This past year has been one of change, opportunity and growth. With our youngest child moving away to college, my husband and I took the opportunity to examine our current home/life style and we made some changes. Some BIG changes. We were currently living in small bedroom community far from the city with great schools and lots of young families and craved to now live in a community were the grown ups outnumbered the kids. We decided we wanted to live closer in to the city and build a home that was focused on the adults in the house. A house designed less on traditional style and more on contemporary style. Where we forego the playroom in lieu of an art room. A home with a great room with no need for the separate family room. After searching for many months, I stumbled upon a builder who was designing a small pocket of 13 contemporary homes in the hills south of Portland. He had a very contemporary design esthetic, and used sharp, attractive modern finishes. I walked into the model home, ran home to get the husband (who immediately fell in love with homes) and within 24 hrs we had purchased a lot. These next blog posting will take you through our building process and how I have been incorporating a modern, coastal/boho theme in my design decor, thanks to Fourhands Furnishings and West Elm among others. Below is a sneak peak of an "after" shot of my great room. More to come!
